| 18th World Petroleum Congress (2004 - 2005) |
The World Petroleum Council (WPC) was founded in London in 1933 and provides a forum for discussing the issues facing the oil industry on a worldwide basis and is strictly non-political. The WPC's 61 member countries represent over 90% of the worlds major oil and gas producing and consuming nations of the world. Attendance at WPC Congresses is open to all and over 90 countries are usually represented. The Congresses held regularly every three years over the last 65 years, and the last one was held in Johannesburg, South Africa – the first time such a Congress was held on African soil.
My involvement in the project lasted 10 months. I was the only copywriter involved in South Africa and was responsible for the writing, research, interviews, sourcing of photographic material, and involvement with design and layout for all the Registrations Brochures (x 2), Newsletters (x 3), Sponsor’s Leaflet, extensive website, leaflets, press releases and emails.
The international response to all the printed material, in particular, was overwhelmingly positive.

| City of Johannesburg, Bontle ke Botho Competition Submission (2003, 2004, & 2005) |
The Bontle ke Botho competition, which means “being beautiful is being human”, arose out of the World Summit on Sustainable Development, held in Johannesburg in 2002. It is a vehicle to implement the commitments made at this time and involves the participation of municipalities, wards and schools in Gauteng in achieving and maintaining a clean and healthy environment in which to live.
Each project was a six month event and involved extensive research, interviews, collation of information, collation of photographic material, writing, proofing and involvement with design and layout of the finished document.
The City of Johannesburg won the competition in both 2003 and in 2005. |

| Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) |
GIBS ran an annual competition for four years called Masterminds, which strove to excite, enthuse and include some of the country's brightest and most dynamic up-and-coming business people. Ten groups of ten people, divided into various business categories, pitted their wits against one another in a thrilling battle of the business brains. Utilising leading technology in a live, question and answer game show environment, held on campus in front of a prestigious audience, Masterminds challenged its contestants in an exciting and adrenalin-pumping winner takes all showdown.
As one of the leading business schools in the country, GIBS was responsible for hosting weekly or twice-weekly Forums, during which prominent local and international people would present to a live audience of alumni and invited guests. Topics ranged from SARS, new financial budgets and finance-related themes, to marketing, literature, human sciences – and everything else in between.
This presentation would then be transcribed and written into an article to be published every week in the Sunday Times Business Report. |

| Cadbury's Endearmints |
| This month-long project was complex in that it was multi-faceted. It involved writing advertorial for Style magazine to publish information regarding a dining competition to be held by Cadbury’s Endearmints, to publicise their premium mint. A questionnaire was then formulated for winning diners to fill in on completion of their complimentary meal at one of the 50 participating restaurants. These questionnaires were then re-written into a format to be printed in the advertorial section of the Style Restaurant Guide. |
